Product information

Best known for their Imperial Easter Eggs and their association with Russia's last royal family, Fabergé is one of the world's best-known jewellers. In 1885, Tsar Alexander III commissioned Fabergé to create a beautiful Easter egg

make for his wife, Empress Maria Fyodorovna. The empress was so impressed that the tsar continued the tradition of giving a Fabergé Easter egg with a surprise inside to the empress every year. A total of 52 eggs were made for the Romanov family.

Easter was the most important holiday in the Russian Orthodox Church, with colourful eggs symbolising Christ's resurrection. The Fabergé workshop was known for their intricate creations in hard stone, multi-coloured gold, the invention of 145 new enamel shades and breathtaking designs in traditional Russian and neo-Russian motifs.

This egg pendant was made by the German firm Victor Mayer, which held an exclusive licence to make Fabergé jewellery from 1989 to 2009.
